Substack
Newsletters and a blog for writers: free to publish; the platform takes 10% of paid subscriptions.
What it is
Substack is a platform where a writer runs a newsletter, podcast or video and chooses which issues are paid. According to Substack's help pages, publishing is free at any number of subscribers; if you turn on paid subscriptions, the platform takes 10% of revenue and the payment processor Stripe takes its own fees. The subscriber list and the content stay with the writer.
